The only problem is that many are unsure of what goes into making the perfect space. Five main factors go into the perfect storage area, and if a system fulfills these five things, it will make them easier to use and more efficient.
Bring It Out Into The Open
To work at their best, the items you use most often should be visible. For shelves, consider using things such as bins and drawer fronts made from wire or glass so you can see into them. It is easier to locate what you are looking for and easier to keep clean because there is less digging. Dividers are also helpful. Secondly, be sure to add the right lighting to your closet. Use fluorescent lighting with a compact fixture rather than windows that take up storage space and don’t add light at night or early in the morning.

Use the full height and width of the space by adapting your design accordingly. The highest shelves can store items used rarely or seasonably. For flooring, consider using a laminate, linoleum, tile, or hardwood with a small area rug that will clean easily instead of carpeting.
Benefit From Habits
Consider which items you use the most and design the system so these things are stored in the area between your waist and eyebrows where they are easy to get at and see. Consider how you like to store your clothes. If you hang t-shirts rather than fold them, add the needed space with an additional rod. If you like to fold pants rather than hang them, ensure there is a shelf to store them.
