go to home depot or other building supply house, and take a look at the shelving materials, they have all kinds of kits and brackets to fix closets up.

check out various home furniture magazines or websites that offer advise on building shelves and closets. you will probably need a wooden panel and some nails as well as some joints to add one shelf to keep things that are not used daily..
you can also consult a professional to have a better job done
